Honneur à la toile de Jouy

Honor to the toile de Jouy

Atelier Alexandra Fabbri dares to go neo-classical with this toile de Jouy bridesmaid dress.

Toile de Jouy is a passion for history woven into every thread. It is said that Christian Bérard, with his inimitable flair, suggested the idea to his friend Christian Dior : to adorn the walls of the Avenue Montaigne boutique with this iconic fabric. The couturier, captivated, called upon one of the jewels of the Oberkampf factory. The motif? A bucolic scene, where one can sense the carefree play of the swing. An immediate evocation of the 18th century, an era of gallantry and the art of living, where refinement was expressed in lace and hushed conversations. Dior adopted this toile de Jouy as an emblem: a concentrate of French elegance , an echo of his love of the past and the timelessness that characterizes great names.
